Are you a dreamer ?
Take it all in, one day at a time. There will be millions of reasons to make you give up and only one reason that could give you hope, you take that one reason with all the faith in you and fight back.
Remind yourself that life is not about surviving but its about living. 99% of the people I have met in my life do not know what they want to do in their lives, including my 21 year old sister. Everyone I see , seems so lost in their lives. Travelling two hours just to reach office and doing the same old job everyday, they know they hate but they just don't know what else would they do if they quit ?
Its not about the money, life is not about the money. Yes, money can buy you happiness when you buy a ticket to your next vacation, that wonderful hotel room or your favourite pair of ripped jeans. But what happens when that pair of super expensive jeans is tainted with blood and money is the last thing on your mind ?
Would you really care about making more money if the doctor told you, you only had a few months to live ? My grandfather saved all his life and never spent much on himself. When he died we found so much money in his savings and investments, we were astounded. Even after 7 years of his death, all his money is still lying in a bank account somewhere and none of us have the heart to use it. Because after all, it was his hard earned money.
When I told my dad I wanted to quit this IT job to become a writer, he told me something I didn't expect. He told me he wanted to be a writer too, he got published a few times in the newspaper but it it wasn't a 'safe' option and he had a family to support, so he give it all up.
I don't know how many people do this everyday - go to the office, switch on your computer screen and dream about all the other places you would rather be. If you are one of those, then you are a dreamer. Don't let your dreams die, take a leap of faith because someday it really might just be too late.
Money, success, career - Everything is so secondary when it comes to finding happiness and content in life. Do something that makes you feel better about yourself, something that makes you feel proud.
Get out and follow your dreams

I know how you feel and what you mean. I also understand what your dad said. It is tough to get a balance and often we end up erring on the side that gives up on the dreams.
ReplyDeleteAnd that eats us up as the years go by... being another brick in the wall. I would say "work harder. Not at your job but to scrape out more hours AFTER your job to do the things you like."
Been working almost 14 hours everyday now and honestly, I don't even feel tired or overworked. I just feel happy :)
DeleteHi Ritika
ReplyDeleteI agree with you if we don't like where we are, it is in our interest to make a move. The sooner the better. The reason is simple. This dissatisfaction will make us unhappy and ultimately unknowingly we will screw up the happiness of our near and dear ones.
Exactly : )
DeleteIts just about following your happiness :)

ReplyDeleteReminds me of Ozzy Osbourne's words : "I'm just a dreamer, I dream my life away!" :)
