The Rescue Me Theory
Miss Carrie Bradshaw once raised a very controversial question- “Do women just want to be rescued ?”
Since we were small, we were told stories about how a boy – a knight with his shining armour would come on his white horse to rescue us and then we would live happily ever after.
But, and this is a big but, its 2014 ! And all I see around me are black and white cows with no good looking men on them.
Well, to be fair, my knight is miles away from me. He doesn't have a big kingdom and unlimited wealth but works for a big shot multi national company. He has a laptop as his shining armour and has traded his white horse with a swanky black Royal Enfield. We talk / skype for just half hour everyday because my knight has to get up early for big battles (office).
This is what our lives have become. Everything has to be planned beforehand, there is no spontaneity left in life anymore. You need to take a romantic vacation ? Well sweetheart, first you need to place an application in the office, then find a flight with reasonable airfares, book all the hotels. And then may be if you get time, you could go enjoy the trip.
Its a bummer my knight does not have unlimited wealth, I mean you never thought you would have to do long distance for a knight ! You have to do everything on your own. You stop going out because every place reminds you of him, your desk is full of take-out menus and the Dominos guy knows your address by heart.
Not to mention you are lonely. You are not alone but just lonely.
So back to Carrie Bradshaw’s question – Yes, I do believe women want to be rescued at some level. But they will never make you realize it. They will pretend like they are having the time of their lives even if that means watching Sex And The City all day.Because, we believe we are strong independent women and we are going to fake it till we make it :)

Well it certainly is :P
DeleteEverybody needs a rescue once in a while. . Most of them never ask for it and almost of all them never gets rescued. . Definitely not by the knight on an Enfield wielding a laptop!
ReplyDeleteI think they sometimes do get rescued by the knight on an enfield :)
DeletePure gold, this. We ARE strong and independent and there IS not shame in faking it because we are that awesome :)
