Crazy,Really Stupid,Love

By Tuesday, October 02, 2012 ,

I dont't read romantic novels or see romantic movies. They make me nauseous and I literally want to puke.
It's really hard to believe a guy would follow you to the other end of the world to say he loves you, or that he would wait for you faithfully for years just because he thought it was true love. Well, not everyone looks like Ryan Gosling, this isn't the Notebook and it doesn't happen like that, people ! Though a little thing called 'moving on' does happen.

I don't believe in true love or the soulmate concept.
I don't think there is only one person fit for you in this whole wide world. That would be really depressing, don't you think so ? Infact, there are some people I know who take this very seriously. They always have a feeling, something better is just around the corner. Mister, haven't you heard 'A bird in hand is worth two in the bush' ?

There are authors who write about love in such a way, you are almost left believing. I do believe in love but what I don't believe in is 'movie love'. You don't really meet a stranger from a far off land and fall in love with them in just a day. In real life, you don't leave years long relationship for someone you just met. I mean come on, this stranger could be in the Mafia, or worse he could be two-timing !

Serendipity is one of my favorite movies, everytime I watch it, it makes me smile. But even if you are as adorable has John Cusack, you don't leave your fiance because you met a girl for a few hours and you thought she was the one.

Now, I am not being cynical here but this is real life. No songs, No gorgeous clothes or perfect hairs. All in all, not a movie. There is no 'happy ever after'.

If you ask me what love is, its about finding someone you can be yourself with. Someone you could tell all your secrets and never be ashamed. It's about finding your best-est friend, a companion. Someone you can refer to as your much better half and not your lover. Someone who will tell you point blank your new clothes are hideous no matter how expensive they are. Someone who will eat vada pavs with you seven days a week even when they secretly hate it. Someone who thinks you are a crack head and still doesn't mind.
Your best support, and your toughest critic
And that is just my version of crazy, stupid, love.

  3. Yes, very correct Ritika. Movies, written, visual and all forms of media are ruining the minds of youth. They are creating a false image of emotions in the minds which ultimately leads to unrelated expectations.
    Keep posting Ritika :)

    1. Ya, I mean its all about the small things in life and just living in the moment.
Its not about what happened in the past or what will happen in the future..It's about enjoying the present

  8. During my teens I believed in fairy tales.

But harsh encounters as I grew up made me realize ground realities and intricacies of love and life.

I do enjoy 'happily ever after' endings and seek for mushy tales and heroic romances in novels and books. I pertain to novels to satiate my fantasy for Edward-Bella, Mills and Boon.

But I am completely aware that in real life you have to be practical and such things don't exist. You have to know where to draw a line.
