Yo ,Momma !

By Sunday, May 13, 2012 ,

As much as thought of not doing a post on Mother’s Day, I finally give in.

Me and my mom have always had an interesting relationship. We are not like those lovey-dovey mothers and daughters who always agree on everything and do everything together.

Infact ,we disagree on everything and by that I literally mean EVERYTHING !

From wall colours to food to clothes, we have always had our arguments. My mom is a Leo and I am a Taurean and you know what happens when the lion gets against the bull, right ?

My mother has a great taste in fashion, like amazing. But it suddenly degrades when I ask her to shop something for me and well vice versa. That is the reason why no matter wherever we both go we never ask each other to buy something. I bought her ‘juttis’ when I went to Rajasthan, it’s been 3 years and she hasn’t worn them since. Now that I am 400 kms away from her ,I do miss shopping with her the most ,she is such a great critic . No matter what piece of clothing you pick up ,she will always have something to say about it . I got her a Chanel perfume for her last birthday ,she hated it :|

But that's what I love about my mom ,she is so perky all the time. No body can ever get bored in her company. And you know why I love her so much, she always gave me the freedom to be me. Even if she hates the clothes I wear, she never told me to go change. She has always been supportive in no matter what I did. She never laid restrictions, she might have been a little harsh and protective at times but that was okay, every kid needs that. But never did she ever try to force anything on me. Even if I got home late sometimes from parties, she would ask me about the party instead of scolding.

Things I want to copycat from my mom :
  •          Making Kadhai Paneer
  •          Taking care of 2 decade old clothes
  •          Yelling at the exact right time
  •          Watch 4 tv serials at the same time
  •          Her dressing sense
  •          Going OCD for cleaning :D

My mother is probably the strongest women I have ever seen, and I owe everything I have to her . I wish I could be as strong as she is , at least half of it .

This is a picture of me and my mom from my first birthday, almost 20 years old

PS : It’s my birthday tomorrow ,so excited !

Hope you all have a great day
Love
Ritika

  3. Ah, Happy Birthday! So you are born close to Mother's Day, how special. Lovely post, Ritika. Moms are like that. They support us and fight with us. And, my son is a Taurean. You guys can be so headstrong ;-).

  5. Girl, if you are appreciating your mom so much in your 20's, wait till you have kids of your own ;). I was respecting every god damn parent who walked on the planet after a couple of days of being a mom !! ;)

  6. Heh! Me and my Mom make it a point that we never see eye to eye. And she makes sure I know, that I never do anything right!

We get on each others nerves but she's the first person I call, when I have something happy to share.

  7. Good one! Is is those who fight that stay the closest :-)

My daughter is a Taurean and as bull headed as you get them, but then where is the fun otherwise? I'm sure your mother would be thinking the same as well.

And, many happy returns of the day, though late by a couple of days! Have a great year ahead!

  9. I could relate to this post so much. Even my mom, gives me freedom to be myself. And I too have a list of things I want to copy from my mom! I can watch 4 serials at the same time. ( I hardly get time to watch TV, so when I do I watch everything!)
